Riviera Apartments is a 10 storey building that contains 64 apartments located on a prime site CBD site adjacent to Pioneer River.The project was targeted at the investor market in order to provide quality accommodation in regional areas to service mining industry demand.
Ground conditions and seasonal weather patterns were not conducive to excavating for basement car park so AG Architects were able to design 2 levels of above ground car park and still exceed the clients target yield expectations whilst keeping the effective height below 25 meters and maintaining a buildable and cost efficient solution under the BCA.
The resulting form created a striking aesthetic which positively addressed the street interface and allayed all concerns the local planning officers had regarding the proposed additional height and density.
